1934 #kalamazoo , manufactured by the #Gibson #guitar company as an answer to the depression. In the day, these models sold from $10 to $15. This particular model shown from the Mystix collection is of the higher-end $15 Kalamazoo Senior, built sometime in the early to mid ’30s. Kalamazoo guitars were widely used, particularly by the Delta bluesman and early country pickers. Their playability, price, and quite remarkable unique sound, as a result of the less expensive ladder bracing construction became sought after. It is widely believed that many of the great blues artists used the Kalamazoo, allegedly among them Robert Johnson, Charley Patton, Son House. Jo always had a strong Latin rhythm in his mind when he wrote Another Kind of Love in the early 2000s. The track was shelved for a few years while Jo ironed out club material. The track found life when Bobby and Jo formed The Mystix and started gigging steadily. Playing beside them were Marty Richards on drums, Marty Ballou on the bass, and Tom West hammering the keyboards. We knew that the track was clicking from working the club scene and chose to record it at Bobby’s studio in Saugus on all analog equipment. Although the band has not performed this particular tune in some time, Jo thinks it might be time to bring it back to our live venues.
