(1/22/08) Give a shout out to our "tickler of the 88's", Tom West!

The Mystix wish to give some credit to our un-sung, new keyboardist Tom West. As anyone can tell you who has seen The Mystix of late, Tom has added a whole new dimension to their sound. He is an experienced keyboardist based in Boston, Tom has worked with many highly regarded musicians, including Peter Wolf, Benjamin Orr, Susan Tedeschi, Betty Harris, Duke Levine, and Billy Novick.

Tom West's recently released "Mixology" CD is a collection of diverse, original songs, recorded at Chris Rival's Middleville Studio, featuring a custom band of future renown.

You can purchase "Mixology" through CD BABY at this link: http://cdbaby.com/cd/tomwest. Tom also has a web page http://tomwestmusic.com which is going "under the knife" and will be updated with current information very soon.

The Mystix are eternally grateful to have such a talented individual as Tom in their group, the interaction and solos of Tom has expanded the horizons of the band's sound and they are looking forward to their upcoming endeavors together.

The Mystix will be taking a short winter break in late February into early March but you can catch some of the guys doing their own thing around that time, however, come later in March they'll be back in full swing so stay tuned!

Bobby Keyes (The Mystix' lead guitarist) is currently back in the studio in Los Angeles with Robin Thicke putting the finishing touches on Robin's newest CD. The album still has no working title but we're told that they're looking for an spring/early summer release date.

Also, Marty Ballou (The Mystix' bassist) is picking up some extra stage time with Blues great John Hammond (www.johnhammond.com) on selected dates in the next few months. Marty's appearances Hammond include: March 1st, in Cerritos, CA, March 9th at the Mohegan Sun Resort in Conneticut (www.mohegansun.com) and on May 2nd Marty is thrilled to be playing with them at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival! Furthermore, if you're heading up to Canada you can catch the John Hammond Quartet with Marty on Feb. 21 in Calgary, Feb 22 in Banff and Feb 23 in St. Albert. So tell Marty "hello" if you see him there.

Marty Ballou is also playing with Edgar "Frankenstein" Winter on Thursday, Februrary 14th, Valentine's Day at Bruce Willis' club THE MINT (www.clubbruno.com) in Sun Valley, Idaho.

(1/17/08) Bobby Keyes is an In-Demand Man!

Bobby Keyes, The Mystix incredible lead guitarist and co-producer, has been recruited once again by pop-star Robin Thicke (Winner of the VH1/VIBE AWARD for 2007 Breakthrough Artist of the Year) to help record and write songs for his follow-up to The Evolution of Robin Thicke, his 2006 smash album. Bobby has been traveling back and forth from Los Angeles to New York City for various sessions and the early word is that this is going to be an even bigger hit-parade.

We had an awesome radio debut at WPKN in Bridgeport, CT, this week, which put Blue Morning at #9 to start off! We also saw a great jump, moving up ten spots to #12 at WVAU in DC, while we held on at WQHS in Philadelphia hitting #11 this week. We saw great action come in this week from WMSE in Milwaukee and WHRV in Norfolk, VA. We moved in to light rotation at WRBB and WGBH. The Radio support for The Mystix has been great so far this year, and we'll be certain that it will carry over in to the New Year.

(11/28/07)
Some Great Radio News to report to you this week on The Mystix! We hit the top 30 for the first time at WVAU in Washington DC at #22 and also came back on the top 30 at WMCR and WBNY. Also we hit #10 at WQHS in Philadelphia, up three spots from last week.

Also, he'll be doing a CD/T-shirt giveaway as of 12/1 on his radio show, Big Country Revue, from WXLV. It's a 24/7 Americana station. Go to www.wxlv.org for more. Nice!

We're pushing 100 stations in the "added-to" column of our Radio Markets - we're currently at 98 and will surely hit triple digits sometime over the next few days!

The Boston Blues Society

New article by Bill Copeland of The Boston Blues Society

The Boston-based band has a new CD, but they still like to keep it live and local

Music scene followers have been inundated with computerized, synthesized music for so long now that many are crying out for something as real as meat and potatoes with hot gravy.

A band of veteran musicians together for three years now are doing their part to provide local scenesters with some authentic down home rootsy music.

Boston Globe Article on Bobby Keyes

All play and plenty of work
From pop to hip-hop, Saugus guitarist Bobby Keyes is in demand

Nearly half a century after strumming his first chords in public at the Rainbow Lounge in Ipswich, this "Route 1 brat" is still rolling up and down the highway to gigs and sessions.

Guitarist Bobby Keyes lives in Salisbury, runs his recording studio in his native Saugus, and plays clubs all over Boston and the North Shore. Then there are the jaunts to Hollywood, where he writes and records with friends like pop star Robin Thicke.
