The Mystix
BIO

An all-star band representing the very best journeymen of the Boston/New York music scenes, with roots in R&B, Rock and Roll and country. The Mystix are rapidly gaining recognition for their unique sound, featuring inspired original material and superbly crafted arrangements, as showcased in their new CD, “Blue Morning.”

Singer-songwriter Jo Lily, slide/acoustic guitarist, leads the band with his legendary gritty voice and soulful delivery.

The Boston Phoenix says guitarist Bobby Keyes "evokes an entire era of classic playing” having recorded with Jerry Lee Lewis, Ben E. King, and New Kids on the Block to name a few, and has been a studio player at the legendary Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals.

Drummer Marty Richards has worked with Peter Wolf, Duke Robillard, James Montgomery, “Monster” Mike Welch (with whom he toured Europe), Otis Read, and Jimmy Witherspoon. Marty has worked with bassist Marty Ballou in many of these bands, giving them a tightness that transcends the usual “play” between musicians.

Bassist Marty Ballou—the foundation, the bottom, and he plays over the top. His recordings with John Hammond, blues icon Jimmy Witherspoon, Duke Robillard and Roomful of Blues to name a few, affirm his place as one of the greats.

Keyboard monster Tom West has recorded and performed with Peter Wolf, Susan Tedeschi, Duke Levine, "Sax" Gordon Beadle, Barrence Whitfield, Duke Robillard, and many other Northeast favorites.

Special Guests:
Drummer Dennis McDermott—one of the great New York players having accompanied Donald Fagen, Rosanne Cash, Boz Scaggs, Shawn Colvin, and Graham Parker—drives the band with abandoned precision.

Pianist Kenny White—a songwriter, producer and keyboardist extraordinaire—in addition to his own distinguished solo career, he has worked with Shawn Colvin, Linda Ronstadt, Dwight Yoakam, Gladys Knight, Aaron Neville, and Peter Wolf, among others.

Saxophonist Crispin Cioe, the leader of the legendary Uptown Horns, has performed with the who’s who of rock and roll and R&B including The Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, Lou Reed, James Brown, and Solomon Burke.

"Blue Morning," the brand new release from The Mystix, is NOW AVAILABLE online through CD Baby and iTunes, and also at Newbury Comics stores, and Dyno Records in Newburyport, MA.
